South Carolina Alligator Hunt

Alligator hunting is fairly new to SC. Only a limited amount of tags are available each year. If not drawn a preference point is awarded for the following year application.

I used a guide Dennis Matherly from Florence, SC. Pee Dee Wildlife Control  I recommend his services. He is very knowledgeable and can get your your gator as well as having a walk-cooler and will properly skin and cut up the meat as well as package it and freeze it for you.

Hunted at night with fishing pole and weighted treble hooks. Once hooking the alligator in the head it was eventually reeled in to the boat, harpooned and then I dispatched it with my .380 handgun.
